The DevNet stopped, and it is not restarting
This is the original halt announcement from August 2026, kept for the record. The network described here has been replaced. For the current chain see the network status page.
If your vNode has been sitting idle since July, this explains why — and what is being done about it.
What happened
On 9 July 2026 the network stopped producing blocks. It did not crash and it was not attacked. Every validator simply stopped agreeing on what came next, and none of them could move forward alone.
It has not moved since. Anyone can check: the network has been sitting on the same block number for weeks. Your node is not broken — there is nothing left for it to do.
Why it cannot simply be restarted
Restarting keeps everything exactly as it was — including the reason it became fragile in the first place. When the network was created, 99.5% of all its tokens were placed in a single account, held by one person. Restarting hands that same account back to that same person.
The only way to fix it is to start a new network with the tokens held differently from day one.
What is being built
A replacement network, run by the people who operate the nodes. The design is finished and written down. Three things about it are worth knowing up front:
| Instead of | The new network |
|---|---|
| One person holding the tokens | A program holds them. There is no key that any person could use to take them. |
| Tokens handed out by hand | Every operator receives exactly the same amount, automatically. |
| Influence following the biggest holder | One operator, one vote — no matter how much stake you hold. |
Where things stand today
The plan is complete and under review. No new network exists, nothing has been created, and there is nothing to install or sign up for yet. When that changes, it will be announced here first.
A community-operated DevNet for the Xandeum protocol.
Not affiliated with or endorsed by Xandeum.
Nothing on this network is money, and nothing here is offered as money. Tokens on this network are valueless test tokens on an independent test chain: they have no monetary value, cannot be sold, and are not an investment. There is no ticker and no exchange listing, by design. Stake grants, commission and anything a vote account accrues are denominated in those same valueless test tokens. Operating a vNode is unpaid volunteer work.
They are not Solana SOL — some tools display “SOL”, and may even show a dollar price, because they are pricing an unrelated token. The correct reading of any such figure is $0.
This network does not provide Xandeum storage.
